Hello All,

My local Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a small Q Contest this September. Several people (including my wife which is a BIG surprise) have said that I should enter. I'm not sure whether I want to or not (honestly I just want to EAT at a Q Contest) but since it's KCBS sanctioned I won't be able to use my newly acquired CS or my homemade contraptions (they use LP). If I decide to take the plunge does anyone have any suggestions on inexpensive smoker(s) that might fit the bill? I think it's a pretty standard Cook Off (4 meats). I'm not looking for glory (so I doubt that I will be doing 3-4 briskets etc. looking for the perfect slice.) but do realize that you will need a decent sized smoking area to get everything done on time.

As Always Thanks for Your Help
Mark

There is no way to keep even temps in an ECB.

I have seen guys at kcbs contests use Weber kettle grills. The round ones that burn charcoal. They put the fire on one side and a drip pan on the other. Then place the meat over the drip pan.

You will probably need more than one to do all 4 meats. Lots of guys use the WSM but they cost abot$180.

Good Luck.
