Hello All,

I know in the past we have talked about how challenging it can be to keep you drip pan from blowing away (and leaving you with a nice big grease spot on your patio) There have been some great suggestions in the past and here is one more. I have an SM009 and what I do is take some heavy duty foil and lift the smoker so this foil fits under all 4 legs. Then I take an aluminum pan I make a loop of packing tape (Duct tape would probably work too)and place it on the bottom of the pan. Then I tape the pan to the foil underneath the smoker. You can bend the ends of the foil up a bit to create a bit more of a wind barrier. I have been using this method this season with great success. We have had some EXTREMELY windy conditions and the pan has not moved one inch. Give it a whirl and see how it works for you.

Oh yeah I tried the rocks in the pan and it still blew away. I prefer the disposable trays since I dont like to clean up I would rather throw it away. I hear you on the racoons. When I do an overnight cook there are always paw prints on the smoker. I dont have a dog but when I used to keep my cats outside they were always hanging out around the smoker. Now whenever I start a new cook they are sitting there sniffing away through the screen door. LOL.
