I just love this forum. I have learned so much from you so far.
I was wondering what the moderators do? Do you sit in front of a screen eating bbq and watching everything that is written? Nice job if you can get it!
Anyway, thanks for doing whatever it is that allows me to read all this great information.

Peggy, I agree with you wholeheartedly. I too think the moderator(s) do a fantastic job. As I understand it there is officially only one moderator and that's Smokin' Okie and he does the job on a volunteer basis. Honorable mention however, should also go to Tom who also volunteers his time and is a constant source of BBQ lore and information. Thanks guys, I've learned so much from this forum. And while we're at it lets thank Cookshack for giving us the opportunity to participate in this forum.

Happy BBQing!

Don
Thanks for the kind words.

Stuart is probably the only company president that moderates.[He can pull in John Shiflett, who knows everything about the equipment]They are both fine cooks.

They can get Tony from service, that can fix anything.

Donna is an owner and member of the founding family/inventor.

She supports and allows us to be here,as well as reminding us that we are a gracious forum.

topchef,in the pros forum,is a CIA chef with almost 30 years in his own successful restaurant in Vermont.
BBQ is his passion and a great guy ,as well.

Yep,Smokin' carries the big load and often our carelessly thought out criticisms, all as a volunteer.

Just a little info.

Well, you're almost right. Normally I don't sit with Q in front of the PC as it get's the keyboard all sticky. I say that, with a plate of smoked Pork Tenderloin that's really good if I say so Smiler

I have to monitor all posts, post pictures, work behind the scenes to move posts and keep the forum running. I can spend quite a few hours in a week just doing that. I answer a lot of emails direct from people wanting to know about the forum. That's my job. Donna & Stuart don't actively Moderate each day, they leave that up to me.

My #1 Goal is to keep it fun and friendly and about Q. And of course, I try to make sure any post gets an answer. If someone else doesn't jump in, I try to jump in. Hate to see the "no reply" kind of posts.

Tom is great, always jumping in. Toms' the MAN!

Thanks for the kind words. As was stated, I do this for free, I'm not an employee of Cookshack, although we've built a great friendship over the years. I was like many of you, just bought my CS but my fondness for the product helped lauch the forum.

To me, it's about sharing my Q knowledge. There's no other way, to really learn about Q, unless you ask. You can read all you want, but we all have questions.

That's the purpose of the forum, to talk about Q.

99.5% of the forum has been great and I love doing this. Everytime some says "...this forum has made me a BBQ King/Queen in my neighborhood" it's a great thing.

BUT...

...I'm just the moderator. This forum would be nothing without a TON of forum members always jumping in and helping answer the posts, and the growth in the members answering the questions is another rewarding experience.

Now, back to my Q....
Smokin,
You go ahead and eat all the q you want. That is an awesome job you have and you are an awesome guy for doing it! I say job because it sounds like a lot of work. I sure am glad you are doing it. I just want everyone who writes anything in here to know that I am grateful to them.
Thanks again
Peggy

Tom
I think Tony would be especially valuable. He can fix anything!
Donna, I have seen in here, and I especially like her. She seems to know everything.
Ok, send Tony over in about a month, since we are getting our rig. I hope we don't need fixing, but if we do.....Tony, come on down!!!
2 Greyhounds,

If Tony doesn't come back from National Guard duty soon you will be stuck with me...

Actually Smokin' does a great job on this forum and those of us at Cookshack really appreciate him.

There are several others that are always great about sharing advice with others, but Tom is great about always giving great advice.

Thanks to all who help out.
smokin, tom, stuart, donna, thank you tony; dont know how i missed this post, thanks peggy. smokin love your wit, tom, consulting? is it Q?, stuart, you called me while you were driveing down the highway to answer a thermistat qustion, thanks much, donna, thank you for the news letters and keeping all in line. with the broad participation, all over the world at times, this is an awsome site!thanks many times over to all, you have helped us much. paul
