I've read a bit about temp stratifications in the CS.. so it got me to wondering if it would make sense to install a small muffin fan, like the ones used in computers, to move the air a bit, thus eliminating the different temps from top to bottom.

I have an 008.. and I have never taken any measurements.. so, don't know if it is an issue or not.. but I ?assume? there are heat layers.

I don't see where this has been discussed.. but it kinda makes some sense to me.

Thoughts?

Hey Bill,

I looked into that very idea.

The CS seems to be hotter nearer the bottom, which makes sense. However, I don't know what part convection takes in the air around. I'm Looking for a fan that will withstand the heat and smoke. Should be able to find a cheap 24 volt unit and power supply. I don't think I want to mess the 110v inside the smoker.

Having said that, how much difference it would make in the long run, who knows? Any ideas on how or where to go from here?
