Okay, I've now been waiting since the end of May for my "new model" FEC100. First it was going to be delivered in July. Then September 1. Now, I'm told it will be mid - October (Yeah, sure!).
I'm told my options are to continue waiting. Or, I can get the "old model" and they will send the new control panel when it's ready, and I can put it on. Of course, I can always get somthing else, but it took me so long to decide on the FEC 100 in the first place (which had been my original first choice), that that doesn't seem to be an option.
Thoughts?

Personally, I advised them not to tell anyone about the new smokers until they were ready for production, unfortunately word leaked.

If CS isn't selling them yet, Stuart has his reasons and I'm sure it's nothing more than normal production ramp-up.

Sorry it's taken so long, but it will be worth the wait.

Me, I'd get it and then retrofit it.
I'll post my two cents here. If you are going to compete you might want to consider the current version until the new boards have some time and experience under them. When I compete I want something that is reliable and easy to work on. The current cookers don't have all of the new features of the IQ3 but I can change a board in about 5 minutes with a screw driver. I have already had to do this once when I knocked the control knob off of a cooker with the hopper lid.I have some work to do on my two cookers and my non-UL FEC is slightly different othan my UL FEC. I need to make the wiring the same so I can swap my boards with out much brain damage. I believe in the old KISS principle.

There is a higher charge for the "new" smoker. The IQ3 controller is a significant upgrade from the Traeger controller.

Jeff, It's not a simple upgrade, it's a newer model upgrade and there was an added cost for the IQ3, but they probably didn't offer it because it's not "out" yet. But call them, and I'm sure if you'd pay the upgrade cost difference or something, they'll help you out.

From what I understand the IQ3 and the "regular" FE will still be sold separately.

The IQ3 controller is based on the electronics CS has in their Commercial line. The controller and an added fan have an intelligent way on controlling the smoker.

I know Stuart has a plan for "upgrades" for other FE's, but I haven't heard.

And even if I did, I wouldn't say until they're in production. Don't want to start any MORE rumors.

It'll be soon.

Stuart owes me a call back, I'll see what I can find out.
