i am buying a cookshack model 008( the smaller 0ne) can you really get 3 slabs of ribs in the smaller one? it looks so small, i can buy the bigger one , any feedback would help. thanx sfent
sfent When I cook 3 slabs,I cut them in half put them fat side up. A slab per rack. Half way through rotate top rack with botom rack. If you don't the botom rack is to close for the full cooking time of 5 to 6 hours. I hope this helps. Jimbo
With the spareribs I smoked yesterday, you could fit 2 of the smaller halves on one rack and only 1 larger half per rack. So, I had to use 3 racks for 2 slabs of ribs. Man, I sure wish I had 18" racks. I didn't want to overlap the larger halves or have them smashed against the sides of the smoker.
Hi,Mike.....You can,but remember those grills are only 4 in. apart and that limits cooking full grown spares somewhat....I have made a sausage shaped piece of foil to prop up one side of the slab to allow a much smaller angle than rib racks afford...This will gain you a little extra space on each grill. It works well on loinbacks.
Chances are, alot of slabs of ribs will be too long to hang in the smokette with hooks. They will flop over on the wood box cover and get too hot. I guess you could cut the slabs in half and hang those.
