Well, looks like I'm going to experience a new smoker. I ordered an Amerique this week from Cabelas and it shipped yesterday.. WOW!!! I thought the backlog was weeks. Thanks Cookshack. The reason I ordered from Cabelas rather than Cookshack is that I have a Cabelas Visa card and I had enough points to get the smoker and cover for free.. can't beat that with a stick. Supposed to arrive on 3/7.. Yee Haa.. I haven't beent this happy since I got my Smokette

Anyhow, I'm really looking forward to receiving this smoker and giving it a go. Hopefully UPS won't destroy the unit in handling.

Congrats Smokenque. I am on the same path to get an Amerique and wanted to wait until Cabelas started showing it in their catalog so I could pick it up at the local Cabelas store and avoid the freight damage issue. I see it is still not listed in their online catalog. How did you get them to supply it for you?

Hi JPS.. I doubt they will stock it.. pretty pricy item and probably not a huge demand at their stores.. it's a special order. They stock a few CS items so I called to ask if they'd order for me and they said "sure".

Where in Boise are you? My daughter lives in Eagle across from the Eagle HS. I get up there a time or two every year and will be there in early July, I think...

Thanks SQ. I will see if the local store would order one. I live on the West end, on the bench overlooking the baseball stadium and race track. Just a couple of blocks from the stop light at Goddard and Glenwood.

One more day and counting.. should be here tomorrow (Wed).. Man, I sure hope it arrives safely. After all the posts I've seen about these units arriving damaged.. I can hope can't I?

AQ arrived today.. the box of parts yesterday. The AQ box was so badly damaged I had to take pix of it in case. I can't believe CS doesn't have some sort of formed foam to protect these beauties. When I opened the box everything appeared to be ok except for one bent piece of sheet metal that I could fix.

It's now being seasoned... and tomorrow.. We'll give it a try.
