new smoker

Picked up my 045 on Tues. Seasoned it yesterday. Smoking cheese and hot dogs now.
When I seasoned it, the wood chunks did not completely burn. Do I just continue to use them the next time?

Congrats on the new smoker, got mine last week. Same thing happened to me. Make sure the heating element is touching the bottom of the wood box. If it is not tweek it up a little. I didn't reuse my wood, wanted a fresh batch of new smoke when I did my first cook.

I throw in new wood each time. Wood usage in the Cookshacks is very inexpensive. I do, however, leave a charcoaled piece in the back of the smoker. Why? Not sure. Toss all other used wood...partially or completely burned.
