Same email, different day... I too had a Masterbuilt that the components went south at 2-3 years. Loved the electric smoker, just wanted to see if there was an option that wouldn't die so quickly. Research led me to the CS SM025. Delivered about 2 weeks ago - so far did the seasoning, smoked 3 lbs. of almonds, 2 PBs, getting ready for some jerky. Am loving what has turned out so far. Very happy with the smoker and its results. Lots of ideas for the future.

Shoot! It took me 6 months to decide that a CS is what I wanted to buy. My thrifty side kept wanting to buy a CHEAP smoker and the old you get what you pay for part of my brain kept me on the straight and narrow path.

You made a very wise choice and the best way to learn is go cook something. If you have a problem or question just ask, but without a little experience on your new smoker it might not make much sense, that is, our answers of course!

Congrats on your new smoker and make sure you have a little FUN!

Cal, you did better than me!! I looked, wanted and wished for over 3 years!! I FINALLY pulled the trigger last fall and now I wonder WHY I WAITED!!!!! And like you, now I have 2 CS smokers!!

Happy AmeriQue and FEC 100 owner!

Just curious which one of the two do you use most. Elect. versus pellets.

Actually, since I got the FEC, I have not used my AmeriQue. I thought I had the Amerique sold so I could buy a CS Charbroiler but the sale did not work out.

BTW, I see you are in Freeport, TX, I have been there several times going out to Stetson Banks and the Flower Gardens.

Not wanting to hijack, but I've used my 020 three times since getting my FEC, which I've used about 120 lbs of pellets worth...Yeah I guess maybe I use the FEC a little more.

The electric smokers make the BEST PBs of the two, IMHO!

Been the proud owner of an smo25 for a couple of years and I have more friends now that I care to count LOL, hell of an ice breaker !

I am also a new owner of the SM025. It took me about 30 minutes to make my decision. Came home Memorial Day evening and saw the unwrapped segment about Cook Shack on the food channel. Ordered it the next morning and I am on my 4th cook right now, a 6lb pork butt. The other 3 were ribs, brisket and prime rib which was the best piece of meat I have ever cooked and probably one of if not the best I have ever eaten.

I’ll have many question along the way and based on what I have seen in this forum I’ll be in good hands. Thanks in advance.

I, too, went through this...had a Masterbuilt then went for the SM025...two months in and I realize I made a mistake with my cookshack...


I should have bought it bigger and sooner!!

Yeah, funny how the guest list grows when you start sharing the food.

I don't regret buying the SM025. Cause it's the perfect size for my family. I do regret not taking that second job a few months ago so that I could upgrade to the FEC100.
