I am getting an Over Temp error on my old SM150. Cookshack thinks it’s a faulty thermistor. I have the part number but I can’t find one anywhere on the internet, and cookshack no longer carries them. Does anyone have an idea on how to fix my issue. Would another thermistor work if I hooked it to the control board? Any advise would be appreciated.

Did you talk with Bill or Tony?
I have a 12 year old SM150, my thermostat went out. I ordered one from Cookshack it arrived yesterday. They sent me item PV721 cost about $215. Problem was I set smoker to 250 but the display never showed above 120 but I heard a sizzle so I put a probe down the top to check temp was actually 297 my poor ribs : (
I hope to install it this weekend and that it will fix this problem.
JETT, Definitely give us a call and we can assist in trouble shooting the issue. As long as it was not a thermistor probe we would have the one you need. The PV721 is three wire probe so you may have a bad ground. Just give us a call and we can assist.
Yes it is the thermister. I have the part number just can’t find one online.
If it is the old style thermistor then we do not have that one available. Just give us a call and we can assist in getting an RMA to return the probe for credit.
It appears "electrotech" has missed the point of JETT's posts, and is confusing them with Bembring.
