After a lot of research and reading of this board I decided to purchase a new SM045! I ordered it on 1/24 and am told my tentative ship date is 2/15 which means I probably won't have it for almost a month from date of order. I'm sure the wait will be worth it, but I hate waiting.

In the meantime it will give me plenty of time to continue to read the board and learn how to use it before it arrives.

Looks like it will be ribs on the Traeger for the Super Bowl!

Did the initial burn in last night. Had 2 chickens in a brine overnight and will be cooking them tonight for dinner! I think I am going to try 250 and not worry about the skin as we typically don't eat it anyway. Can't wait for dinner time!
Qnorth, I have a bottle of that sitting in my cabinet and wasn't sure what to use it on. I think I will try it on the chicken!

The chickens came out extremely moist and tasted really good. The skin was rubbery which is what I had expected but it had a very bitter and taste and dark color. I think I used a little too much wood, and I even took the smallest chuck I could find from the sample box it came with. I am amazed at how much smoke flavor came from that tiny piece!

Going to try some pork butt this weekend!
