I have been cooking Boston Butt for a while and tried the Picnic Roast. They seam to cook differently and taste a little different. I thought they were from other end of the shoulder bone. I just noticed they taste different.

I prefer the Boston end myself. I also discovered from reading the forum that charcoal will add the pink color and smoke ring in the smaller CS cooker. I just add one small piece and it makes brisket and pork butt look like they came from a stick smoker. It really doesn't seem to change taste but makes the presentation look better. I want to thank the forum people for telling me about this idea.

I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced the differences of picnic vs. Boston and what their opinion was?
