You can fix your broken probe as follows:
heat vegetable oil in a sauce pan with probe and the first couple inches of the cable in the oil to around 275 degrees for about 20 minutes. Wait until no more air bubbles escape from the connection between the probe and the cable. Works like a charm.

Yes, we've talked about that fix a few times.

One thing we recommend is after doing that, use some high temp heat/shrink tubing to seal off the gap that allowed the issue.

It's basically that water gets into the probe and affect the thermocouple inside the sensor.
