yes, route thru the a "smoke hole" is best as this will avoid potential crimp damage from routing thru door.

I ,and most comp cooks,will run up to a half dozen probes in the cookers.

We slam the door on them,wherever they are and don't worry about them.

Just a thought.

Do you have a particular type that lasts under this type of use? Mine dont last too long when I slam the door on them.

Many box stores carry them.

$15-$16 should buy most any of them.

Often you can get three for less than $30 from Amazon and free shipping.

I give them, as gifts, to relatives,friends,etc that I might have to cook for.

Most of them interchange, amongst different units.

Of the many I've seen ,over the years,the cable is the least likely to fail.
