I have a unit that is almost 3 years old. Early CS model. The only problem I have ever had was it came wired wrong from the factory and Eddy helped me re-wire it.

Yesterday I was cooking chicken. Started on Smoke and it ran fine. After an hour, I moved it to 325 and noticed the temp was climbing slower than usual. After 20 minutes on 325*, it was still only at *240. I moved it to *350 and the temp started climbing as it should. Once it reached *275 it shut off. I could not get it to run more than 2-4 minutes at a time after that. It was blowing my GFI outlet.

Checked the outlet and it seems to be working fine.

Any thoughts on what could be shorting out on the FE?

You might also check the ignitor. When it shorts out it tends to ground out the board which always tripped my GFCI. It is easy to unplug and you can light it with alcohol gel to run a test.

Other than that make sure the fan is working correctly. If it is not moving enough air you can get pellets burning too soon in the auger which can cause the auger to bind up.
