Hi slade,
Well, Pulled pork is a nice pork butt or picnic and you smoke it until nice and tender. You want the internal temp. from around 190-200 degrees. Then when it's done take it out of the smoker and you pull the meat apart. You can do this with your fingers or with forks. Some people like it shredded and some like it in chunks. Then I put some dry rub on it and you are ready to eat. Good luck

Good news Slade, you ask that question in the right forum. I can think of a couple of others that would probably Flame You if you asked.

I have an old "how to" at this link (I'm updating it even now):
Pork Butt 101

You can also find the link at the top of the page where it says "BBQ Guide"

It's a relatively inexpensive (between .99 cents and 1.40 a lb) about 7 lbs piece of pork. It LOVES low and slow cooking and when done, maybe 50% loss of weight, you'll have some real good eats.

For smoking, I think it's the easy cut of meat to use. Many times I buy it, wash it, rub it, smoke it. No other prep. Cook until 185 to 195 and it's really tender. Like Willie said, you can pull it, chop it, slice it, shread it. Lots of options.

Got bad news and good news for you. Bad news, you won't be able to go to a joint and see what it tastes like. They don't sell it. Least they didn't when I lived in the Houston area. They don't sell it up here around Austin either.

Good news, it's easy to make. Where I lived on the redneck side of town (Stinkadena, LaPorte), used to buy them at Krogers. A lot of times they wouldn't be on display, but be in the back. Ask for pork butt or boston butt. The HEB and Wally World sell them here, but they are pumped up, so I drive into Round Rock and get them at Sams.

Good luck. They are easier then brisket. Plenty of info here on how to do them.
