So in September I have a family reunion in Missouri. I am in California. I would like to take some smoked brisket back with me.

Any recommendations on how to accomplish this? Should I freeze it and take in a cooler bag, or best to just have it at fridge temp with cooler packs? Take it as carry on or pack in my checked suitcase (it's cold in the cargo area, right?).

Door to door (or should I say freezer to fridge) will be about 6 hours.

Just thinking to myself...If I was a TSA agent and I found someone taking brisket from Missouri to California, I might think this guy must think this piece of goodness is just that, GOODNESS, and come up with some reason to confiscate it. Not saying anything negative about the TSA folk, just thinking if it were I. Enjoy your Q to the fullest IN California and pay not attention to me.
