Howdy,sfent.....The weight of the individual slab will affect the cooking time, not the number of slabs -unless you have overloaded the CS.....I lay mine down and 4.5 hrs. seems a little long...But they're done, when they're done.....Cutting in half will not change "slab" weight.....Someone with a bigger cs will have to speak to the hanging problem...Hope this helps. S, you didn't say which Smoker you have so we can't help with the hang, until we know which smoker, was it a 50/55?

I've got a big one and I don't hang my ribs even though I can.

Tom is correct, adding meat won't affect time -- for ribs. If you add pork butt and brisket and load up the smoker, maybe yes, maybe no. Doesn't in mine.

Sometimes, cutting them in half will lower the time because your exposing more ends to the heat. Meat side down (to get the smoke) if you want, 1/2 way through you can turn them over.
