Rust on a Cookshack

Anyone had any success at lightly sanding and repainting a cookshack? My unit works great but looks terrible and I was thinking of repainting with a hight heat grill type paint.

I snaded the rusted places and then used fine steel wool. Applied 2 coats of high temp, flat black spray paint and CS looks like new!

We went from a painted surface to a powder coating on all our smokers -- I think it was about a year ago. The models with powder coating won't have this problem, but the older painted models do need touch up from time to time. I don't bother to do it on mine because I like that "used" look. But I don't have rust problems, either. I think I would definitely touch up rusty places.
