Self Cleaning Drip Pan

I line my drip pan w/foil and just discard the contents after it has cooled also.
I also plug the bottom and top holes of my cookers w/a wadded up piece of tinfoil. When I opened up my 08 onetime there were mouse droppings everywhere. I was kinda really mad.
I scrubed the heck outta that thing and rinsed very well. Had to reseason it. Im kinda funny bout things like that.

One of the very first things I did was plug up the top vent hole, mainly to keep insects out. I used a BIG flat heavy washer with a bolt and nut. It just sits in the hole not bolted or anything, plus I keep it covered with an old towel.

Since my dog died, I find that I need to empty the drip pan more often. Now I have to line it with foil and clean it myself. I sure do miss my self cleaning drip pan.

Although this thread was good for a few laughs...Now I'm worried about what's entering my smoker while I'm away. I'm gonna "borrow" your flat washer idea, Dan. Thanks.
