Shutting down the FE100

I do 1.2 & 3. Some folks do your 4 as well, but my cooker isn't outdoors so I don't care to burn off what remains. The only reason I might do that is to prevent the pellets from getting wet and jamming things.

Do you run your FE100 out of your garage? If so, how are you venting it?

I run mine in a shop and put a 18 ft dryer hose on it and run it outside and put it in the down spout to let the exhaust go out the top of the shop .

Good idea. No problems with the flue melting the dryer hose? What about additional ash buildup?

This dryer hose is made out of aluminum foil material . I havent had no problem with ash because I vacumn it out when I get done cooking .

BY bbqn: I do it in my garage, but I just put the smoker under the overhang with the door open. I do have a 2' extension and elbow (facing down to avoid rain getting in) so that the smoke definitely goes outdoors. Not much I can do when the wind blows IN, but, hey, we're barbecuing here!
