I understand that it only takes a small amount of wood to smoke something in the CS. My question is, if you are smoking something for say 8 hours, how long does the 3-4oz of wood actually produce smoke?
In my experience, an 8 hour smoke will produce woodsmoke for the full 8 hours. It's really quite amazing. The smoke production from 3oz of wood in my cookshack continues for almost 10 hours. Others may have different experience.
I usually have wood left over, myself, RPM, and use it to "quick-smoke" a little something. Waste not, want not. I, too, am very amazed at how little wood she uses to smoke, for such big flavor. I LOVE my Smokette!
We dump the wood into a pail of water when we're done. Later, we throw it in the garden to dry out. We wind up with some nice charcoal which "colors up" whatever we cook next.
