Since my sm008 is out on my screened porch in the back, I was looking for a nice stand for it that provided some additional storage too. Nicest one I found (aside from the CS cart of course) was the Home Trends Kitchen Island Cart from Walmart for $79.84 + shipping. The smokette will just fit on it.

Not too bad looking....

Hi All,

I will put the Smokette on top of the cart.

My screened porch is what we call a Florida room which in Florida is our backporch, with concrete floor, shingled roof, finised ceiling, concrete block kick plate around the perimeter with screens all around. Almost like a seperate room, in fact some people glass them in with windows.

A little smoke buildup occurs in the screened room, I use a fan to hurry the smoke out of the screened room, not so much an issue after the smoker runs for a couple of hours.

When I use my WSM I put it in a corner as the WSM puts out a lot more smoke. I still use the fan to move the smoke out.

Its wicked hot in Florida and every afternoon we have the subtropic thunderstorms, so the screened porch lends itself to housing my different smokers.

When I get the cart I will post a picture...I held off on ordering the cart as we spent all our "allowance" and "fun" money on donation to the Hurricane Katrina victims. I can live without a cart, movies, dinner out for the next few weeks to help folks who do not have a thing.

I was in Sams Club today and they have a real nice cart that is part of a work bench. The price was right at $150.00. For my situation, this cart looks like it would work much better for me. Diamond plate lockable front doors, with a wood top, and very heavy duty castors. I too, will have to wait to purchase it, I just hope it is still around in a month or two. Cabela's has the cookshack version for $129.00 but with shipping cost going up, it should be around $150.00 after junk fees. I tried to find a picture on the Sams web site for everyone to see, but could not locate it. The price for the cookshack cart seems to have some wild price swings depending on where you look. Cabela's has always been rock steady in my book.
Hi,

I am going to have to look into the Sam's Club cart...that sounds nice and heavy duty. We may also look for an old buffet thats kinda beatup and paint it or stain it to match our patio furniture and the color scheme out there.

Will have to go to Sam's and check it out...

Thanks all,

Preston,
Thanks for posting the link, but I could not get it to open. Obviously you have to register to view it. If you purchase this cart, please let us know how the set up works. I will do the same. My wife and I just moved into a new house about 3 months ago, so not having a cart is killing me. If the wife's not happy, nobody's happy, The cookshack set up is not as high prioriy to her as it is to me. Anyone else suffer from this strange phenomenon?

I see what happened, each search session on Sam's site is cookie based and that cookie is not transferrable to another guest on that site. So when I posted the URL (web link) it is unique to the session with my own pc. I'll see if I can post the picture here shortly.

And yes, I fully understand the balance of matrimonial harmony in a marriage...

Hi Kathy,

Thanks Russ for posting the pic...

Kathy, its not only a door that swings both ways, but it is a 2 way street...if I dont behave my wife will make me hit the road. Wink

Wishbone, there is also a cart that Target sells online and in the store:

Online it is $79.99 with shipping as $49(!). In the store it is $89.99 so its cheaper for me to go to the store to get it of course and they did have it in stock. Hopefully they will have it when I am available to purchase...

My typical luck, I decided I liked the above Sams Club cabinet so I asked that my office manager pick one up for me. She was walking in as a fellow was walking out with the last 6 of them, dont know what he was doing with 6 of them. Now she has her brother picking one up for me in Minneapolis, boy she gets the job done! I also ordered an outdoor propane Weber fire place for my deck. The deck has 6 foot high walls and a roof, Im thinking if its not very windy it might stay sort of cozy. A bottle of red, some ribs in the smoker a fire and the latest Terry Brooks book. Sounds good by me.
Just got it set up. It is quite a large unit, so between that and the new Weber fire place thingy my deck was a bit scrunched for space...I decided the fire place and smoker were more important than the table this time of year. So the table went in the basement for now. I really like it, it's built like a tank and the top is super nice. They we're out of the sale ones so this is this years model, $168.00. Hmmm...I think it needs a new smoker for the top!
Here is my cart.
The first time I used my 008, it was setting on the ground. I put some chicken in and my hands were greasy so inside I went to clean up (not wanting to get my new smoker dirty closing the door)Came back out to find my dog eating the chicken!
Time to build a cart. It has wheels and is made of cedar.
41 wide, 43 on the tall side, 28 short side,4x4 legs
Trick is getting the deck boards to space out right.
Took about 6 hours to make with help from my bud.
And 120 bucks worth of cedar. 3 coats of clear lacquer

The smoker is screwed to the stand, there are threaded holes in the smokers feet.

That has to be about the funniest thing I've read on this forum. Maybe because I see the look on my dog's face everytime I'm smoking something.
great looking unit spike...what i am looking for or maybe to build is a unit with an area underneath that is partially open for a larger and more conveinent drip container...it seems when i smoke two large 8-9 lb butts the large aluminum roaster pan that i use is to the edge of overflowing and it is a mess to clean up...i would like to incorporate maybe a 2 1/2 gallon container some how to catch the drippings and so be easier to dispose off...
does anybody use the drippings for anything???

I work part time at Cabelas. You might try calling a couple of stores and see if they have any Cookshack carts in the bargain cave. Sometimes they come back or were used as demos. That might get it under 100bux and they will ship if you ask. There was a 55 not very long ago for 479 at the Kansas City store bargain cave. I was seriously considering it and then selling my 50. But I already had an 008 in my garage to sell.
Being an unasthetic bachelor slob, my Q setup is in the driveway just outside the kitchen door.

I have my smoker and a portable 'Infrasonic' gas grill on a five foot length of preformed countertop purchased at Lowe's for fifteen bucks, mounted on a couple of plastic saw-horses.

The surface cleans easily, and there's plenty of room underneath for the propane tank, and it takes down easy in the fall (soon to be - last Q is smokin' right now, fresh picnic for Thanksgiving...).
