I have had a Smokette for a few weeks now and have used it 6 times after seasoning it. Everytime I have used hickory(from cookshack) the oven has popped very loudly. The first time the feedback was it sometimes does this during seasoning but it has happen 3 times. It is a very loud pop, enough that you can hear it inside and have to go out to make sure the Smokette hasn't launched into the neighbors yard. I know the vent isn't blocked because I check before each smoke and 2 of the times I had the polder pulled through the top. Any ideas. We can live with it if it doesn't affect the oven, it is funny watching the cat leap up from a dead sleep and run to the door with a fluffed out tail. If this is going to shorten the life of the smoker or is potentially dangerous we should know.

Thanks Smokin',
I talked to Stuart and he is swapping the unit out. I was impressed with how quick he responded and no questions, he offered what was best for me. He also explained what was happening and that he wasn't comfortable with the product like this. It isn't dangerous, just not right. This is a company that I enjoy working with. This is also why I paid the price for the product, because I got a good feeling from the forum. Thank you for your attention.
Based on the description, my smokette has been doing the exact same thing every time I've cooked with it. It does this early in the cooking cycle and only once, as far as I can tell. But there seem to be no ill effects to it except that there will be an unsual amount of smoke pouring out of the vent hole on top immediately after it makes the sound. I attributed it to some sort of pressure build up inside the unit, and the first time it happened, it scared the crap out of me and I thought there was something wrong with the unit. However, someone in this forum joked that it was "hickory farts" and normal. So I stopped worrying about it. After reading this thread, I'm wondering if there might be something wrong. Anyone have more specific information on what's causing this? I'd really hate to try to ship this thing back if it's not big deal.
