I guess it would all depend on how many people you plan to BBQ for. If you have very large groups (20 or more) over frequently for cookouts, then I think the 50 would serve you better.

Myself, I couldn't afford the 50, so I bought the 009. I've had it 2 years and love it. Even if I had the 50, for me anyway it would have been overkill.
I started with the 008 and finally caught a used 50 in the bargain cave at Cabelas. It sure is nice to have the room to do more than 2 ribs at a time. It's a lot of money but I will get used to it over time. But it was hard to drop all the bux.....
What's funny is that I bought a used grill at a garage sale for 5 dollars and found out, as I started to refurb it, that it's a Beefeater and worth $1,400! I got about 140bux in it now and it's pretty nice. Why someone would let a grill like that go to waste is beyond me and then sell it for 5 bux!
Never seen a Cookshack at a garage sale though.
I own a 55. This weekend I cooked a 17Lb brisket in two pieces,3 racks of babby back ribs,6 links of sausage and a tray of fresh fish.

I would recommend the 50 or 55. You need the height to hang your sausage and jerky.

I am thinking about the new model that Cookshack is comming out with. It is a bit wider-necessary for a whole brisket.

What ever you can afford-I would get the biggest you can.The 50 is not overkill!
