This might be old news to some of you.
The Taylor TruTemp remote thermometer model 3518 cost about $20.00 apiece at Target stores. We had trouble with the cables crimping up in the door of the smokers at times, but the digital readout control was fine still. You can get replacement cables/probes for $5.00 from Taylor, handling and shipping paid.
We just bought 2 replacement probes. They work just fine. They take a check or money order. When ordering write the part #1470RP on the check or money order.
The person I talked to said if you have the white plastic coated, there isn't a replacement. Ours look like a metal cable with a probe at the end.
The replacement looks like it's coated with grey plastic or rubber. We tried it side by side with one of the metal ones and had a 5 degree difference between the 2 at the most. No notice of any damage to the coating. I was a little concerned about the plastic material.
