I only use the temperature probe on my SM025 for larger chunks of meat. Since using it for a couple of pork butts awhile back, even without the probe attached, there's a temperature readout on my controller. I'll eventually contact Cookshack support. But has anyone else experienced this?

That should be the smoker temp.
Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. The controller has two temperature readouts: "Oven Temperature" above "Probe Temperature". I'm getting a reading on "Probe Temperature" even when I'm not using the probe. And the readout is totally unrelated to the actual temperature in the smoker.
My probe temp readout (SM066) says "off" if the smoker is turned on but not started. If the smoker is running the probe readout says "no probe" if the probe is not connected. I've never seen anything like a temp reading when no probe is connected. Please let us know what CS says abut this.
Update: I never got around to contacting CS. But the (unconnected) probe readout issue went away on it's own.
