The waiting is the hardest part

Ain't a gripe about CS, more like if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.

Well finally got my SM025 today... sort of. Had to wait an additional week b/c it was backordered (ordered direct from CS). Finally got here today. Hook it all up, plug it in, load the box w/ hickory to season, turn it on and... NOTHING!

Tried different outlets, fiddling w/ the connectors, etc. nothing worked. Called CS. Didn't have a volt meter handy but Bill and I figured something probably happened to the electronics during shipping & that I should send it back for them to look at.

All well and good. Glad to see that their up front and taking care of it. But seriously, can I wait TWO MORE WEEKS?!?!

The anticipation in driving me CRAZY!!!!

Guess I just file it under my typical luck & and typical Monday. Brisket and ribs go back to the freezer and wait to be smoked another day.

Sorry to hear that.

At least you checked it during the week. We've had some new owners wait for the weekend to do their first some and then if something is wrong, CS isn't open on weekends.

Thanks Pags & Smokin,

Luckily I do a good share of my work from home, so I was here when it arrived. Was like a kid on X-mas morning opening it up! Was planning on trying it out during the week, so I wanted to get it seasoned ASAP.

Good news is that I dropped it off at UPS this morning and when I got back home, there was a message in my email saying a new SM025 had just been shipped out! I figured CS would have to get it back, look at it to figure out what was wrong then send back the repaired smoker or a replacement. Guess that means ribs and brisket come back out of the freezer??? hehehe!

Another star for Cookshack. When everyone here says they have excellent customer service, BELIEVE THEM!

IT'S FINALLY HERE AND WORKING!!!

CS sent a replacement 025 on Tuesday after I called them about the problem on Monday. It arrived this evening and powered on w/o a hitch.

Seasoning w/ hickory right now and it smells REALLY good. Bumped temp up to 225* and have a pot of water in there to act as a heat sink. Smoking nicely at the moment.

Unfortunately, the dinner card is already full for the weekend... so there's still some waiting, but it gives my time to decide what I want to put in there first!!! Really excited for that first smoke now
