I am confused as to how to use a thermometer in my 008 without opening the door. I have had great success, so far, just using a timing method but I know that it is much less subject to screw-ups if I can be sure of the internal meat temp. Does anyone have suggestions as to which thermometers and how to go about this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure how the 008 works, but I have the 50 and you can just slide your probe thru the hole/smoke vent on the top of the unit and then insert it into your meat. I just lay my receiver/transmitter up on top of the unit, plug it into the wiring and go watch TV while the CS does the rest.

I'm assuming the 008 has the vent in the top as well? If so, you should be able to slide the probe down thru the vent.

I must be confused I thought this was the open forum. Must be some kind of link error.
