Has any one had a chance to try one of these? They are available at Amazon for 28.00. http://www.thermoworks.com/pro...low_cost/rt600c.html Or it is best to to go ahead and spend 3 times as much for the Thermapen.
I've been saving my change for a thermapen. It would come in nice for poultry, fast accurate, wouldn't have to leave door on my cs020 open very long if need to keep cooking longer.
I wouldn't have believed a year ago that I would be using a cheap taylor probe to help with the cooking part of Que,but I've come to rely more and more it and on the ART of telling doneness. To each his own though!
It's not as fast as the Thermopen, but I'd give it a shot. I think it'll work well with smoked food. When I'm grilling, the Thermopen comes in handy. Sometimes I burn my hand inserting and waiting for one second for the Thermopen to register.
