After the look on my wifes face when I got cought washing racks in the kitchen sink I had to figure out a solution. I drove all over town looking for any easy cure for the clean-up and finally found it at TSC (Tractor Supply Co.). Its a 20"x32" feed mixing pan. Its about 8" deep and will hold all internal parts of an FE100. Filled with hot water and Dawn the parts can soak, then using "0000" stealwool they clean real easy. Rinse "OUTSIDE" with a waterhose and you are SAFE for another day. I'm sure that I'm not the only person that has been caught in the kitchen before making a mess..

Good point.

I use the Concrete mixing tub from Home depot.

Now, you ought to hear the fun in the house when I'm trimming contest meats, especially chicken. I agree with her, especially about any cross contamination. I use tubs, boards and knives for just contest stuff, not the house stuff.

I just try to do it when she's not around. Big Grin
My solution, cheap and ultra-simple
I constructed a box with 1/4 inch luan sides and 3/4 inch pine bottom and small sides.
The inside dimensions are 3"X17"X17" I then lined it with a heavy plastic bag. A white garbage compactor bag was about perfect. One gallon of Simple Green along with one gallon of water filled the box to within one inch of top.
After a cook I let the dog have at the racks then the racks along with the side slides fit nicely down into the box. It sits inside my cabinet (another project that maybe I'll post later) A couple days later when I get around to it I pull everything and just hose off
This box can be made fit whatever unit one has. There is less slop, easier handling and better fit under smoker if it sits upright with a top.
The Simple Green solution should last, at least a year, I hope.
Russ,
You big city dog--our podunk Home Depot has only one size. Anyway, the Tractor Supply plastic tub is perfect, plus I can use it to wash the dogs. It is made of a hard black material and easily holds the flat racks and rib racks together. It is 40 gallons, but obviously you only need to fill it up past the rack level. The simple green and the 0000 steel wool worked great too after one day of soaking. Ron
