Actually, beef tongue is a good enough hunk of meat, but this is not about beef tongue.

I got my new Polder today. I turned it on and got the units set up right. Then came time to test the device.

Lacking a Boston butt, I put the probe under my tongue.

After several minutes, the register stopped at 97*.

Either I've been hit by a truck and am on my way to see St Peter, or the unit is off by 1.6*.

Not bad, when you think about it. Acceptable tolerance.

Now to clean that probe...(or not!)

I think you are fine, my temp is usually about 96.7. Some of us are colder blooded than others, and it seems to be hereditary.

Correct. The 98.6 temp for humans is just an average. Everyone may be a little different. My normal temp usually runs 97.5 or so.
