Hi.

Peggy and I have been talking about something that can make your life easier in the trailer, so I thought I would mention it here in case you haven't tried it.

Rubberized shelf and drawer liner. RubberMaid makes some but you can get off brands that work exactly the same for very reasonable prices.

I use it under anything I want to stay put on the drive to and from our sales places. A bowl, a bulk box of chips, a mug, whatever, will stay where you put it on a counter with this stuff under it. I use it under my box of film and foil. They never move a fraction of an inch!

I used to use it on my boat. Even out at sea glasses would stay put. I know RVers use it too. I use it in my truck when out hunting too. It keeps my gun in the fabric case from sliding off the dash as we road hunt. Lots of uses, but in the trailer it really makes life easier.

Awesome stuff! Hope this helps someone.

Hey Donna,
Do you know of a name for this rubberized stuff? Best I could come up with was Rubberized Shelf and Drawer Liner. Seems it should have a better name. I have been calling it rubber stuff and I see you did too. An amazing product ought to have an equally amazing name. Shelf and drawer liner is pretty bland. I must have five rolls of it on hand and all it says is Shelf and Drawer Liner. I get it for about a $1.50 a 12''x5' roll. It really is great!

Yeah, I know, but wasn't it a nice surprise!

But, sometimes the chef knows more than the one at the window. I added two specials to the board a couple of weeks ago and forgot to tell Patrick. Up walks a lady and he tells her he has all the answers to her questions. So she asks what the Cowboy Lunch Plate is. He says we have no lunch plate. She insists it is on the board. He goes out and sure enough it is there. I sure heard about that one long and loud! Smiler

Gurls can be so bad! Smiler

You will love the rubber stuff! No more flying foil! I believe butchers use something similar in the cases of meat displays when the meat is tilted for viewing. It keeps the meat from sliding. Green Rubberized STUFF!

I only had black rubber stuff, so it is on its way to you. I mailed it Monday, so by Friday I would hope you have it.

You are most welcome. You and Peggy have helped us so many times. It is a rather small thank you!

Take care!
Kate
Hi Peggy.

The whole roll is not that big, just 12'' x 5'. It fit nicely in a yellow envelope, although I unrolled it and made it flat. Cost only a few cents to mail. I know you will LOVE this stuff! I am only too happy to share it with you. When you go down that bumpy road to the event this is gonna help! Smiler You need a whole roll anyway, you are going to find many uses for it.

Kate
kate,
you are truly a chef!!!!
i love the special!!!!
reminds me of working in a white linen place. had to give the wait staff show plates and explain the preparation every day for the specials. think they could remember it???? grand fun that one.
i am going to snag a piece of it. sounds like it will beat all to heck the old wet cloth under the cutting board.
again thanks for your kindness
jack
Kate,Peggy,Jack, although I am not a "professional" Big Grin I thought I would add something here. I do own a vintage RV and we use the stuff all the time. It truly does the job. I hate the rattles and stuff sliding when driving. THE PLACE TO GET IT is at the local dollar store. $1.00/roll. That is where we get it.

I love it for changing small flourescent lights I wrap it around and pull/twist..works like a wrench on the lights.

Just thought you might like a heads up on places to purchase. You know me and consignment shops for kitchen stuff and buying on the cheap. Kinda like my grandmother taught me. :>Wink
Hi !

Jack, see, you are going to be finding all kinds of uses for the rubber stuff! Great idea under the cutting board! I think you and Peggy ought to cut it in half and see who finds the most uses! Smiler

I like the light bulb idea too! Thank you FrayedKnot! I used to find it great to keep cans of food from rolling at sea. A rolling can while you are trying to sleep can drive you daft!

Crumbs, I forgot to mention that I use it in my utility table drawer, where I keep all my measuring cups, spoons, and utensils. I guess that is an obvious use.

Although I have never tried it, rubber stuff might also be good for opening jars. Give you some grip. ? Have to try that!

Well, Thank you Jack. I know I am a wannabe Chef! Patrick calls me Cookie, our Cowboy theme and all. I think I might have a Chef attitude at times. Smiler Smiler I have some fun with it all. Actually I did it all today. I went out alone. Holy Moses, it sure makes you appreciate having a good partner! I did develope a technique where I remove one glove to take money, make change and wiggle back into my glove for the next order, out of sheer desperation! I had a rush between 4 and 7 tonight that wouldn't quit and I am not complaing. (IT was hotter than a Who**House on Nickel Night! More Cowboy lingo!) It made the time go very fast. I had a few complications that I had to deal with in the day, but I got by. Lost my keys before I even left the house, set up my own LP gas, sprang a leak on my water system, got sprayed and then I fixed it, had to pull pork and cut brisket while I had customers lined up, but I did it PDQ, made drinks, wrangled dinners and sandwiches and took the money and you know, when Patrick waltzed in I had it going A-okay! It was a tough day, but I liked it. I can do it, it just isn't as easy as when you have a great partner and I know you all know that to be true. It isn't as much fun alone, but it still feels good just to be out there. Now that I know I can handle it I am going to go on Mondays and Wednesdays alone.

Anyway, I am looking forward to hearing how the rubber stuff works for you. I also enjoy hearing how other people are finding new and different uses for it!

Take care!
Kate
yep sure did
well that and the nail in tire.
nail was scary, rubber stuff is kewl
so my karma is right in the middle!!!
course it ran over my dogma!!!!
yep yer a chef. only chefs gripe about gloves. did you know the queen of england's chef doesn't wear gloves?? saw it on the history channel!!!!
but you for sure have a chef's mindset. time, money, product quality and the ever present fear that you are only as good as your last service.
thnaks for helping us!!!!!!!!
jack
Just wanted to say many thanks for the great tip about the rubber gripper padding for the shelves and counters in their trailer, not something I ever would of thought of. (Aren't girls great!!!!) That stuff is an absolute must have if you're on the road and don't want things flying around. I bought a few roles at the home depot and put it all over the place nothing moves an inch while traveling. I don't know how I could ever get along with out it. Thanks again, Ken
