I posted this in the main forum, and someone suggested I post it here too. I am looking to build a small concession trailer for catering at small events as well as attending BBQ competitions.

The posting follows:

All - Thanks for the great replies. The consensus seems to be that I did not clearly enough define my wants & needs in a trailer. Here goes: I would like a small trailer I can fit in one garage bay. (My homeowners association won't let me leave it in the street.) That limits the size to about 7 feet wide, 7 1/2 feet tall and 15 feet deep. I would like to be able to lift, or wheel on and off a FEC 100, a small refrigerator, and perhaps batteries and / or a generator as a backup power supply. Something to affix a tent like cover to the top of poles that can be raised might be nice too, in case it rains during competition or at a catering event. With my 7 1/2 foot height restriction, I probably don't have enough room for a hard top. I am also not sure how best to fix a FEC 100 on wheels and a small refrigerator on wheels down so they don't play pinball while being towed.

And the toughest part, I was kind of hoping to keep it under 2,400 lbs. If that's just impossible, I can always swap my car for a Durango, and pull a lot more. I just have not yet committed to laying out that kind of serious cash.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Mine was ordered from Fast Eddy. It's 24' to fit a FE2000(750).
Ordered it in May 2004, was delivered in June, all setup and ready.

I called Wells Cargo for info in late April, it came nearly 2 months later. It took them longer to send me info than F.E. took to get it built and delivered.

Tents: You will probably be required to serve under one rain or shine. We attached a 12' roll up RV canopy to ours. 2 -6' buffet tables fit under it nicely. They fit in the back of our shortbox truck.

Mine is at our website, Catering link.

Good luck! Roger

Wow Roger, that rig is nice! I want to start with something pretty small, and perhaps work up to something that size if I have initial success. Thanks!

Does FE still make trailers? I can't find anything about it on the net.

I don't do custom trailers anymore. To busy with cookers. There are many builders out there. Take time and shop around and see what you need before you do any layouts and figure cost. A good trailer can cost alot.

Thanks Eddie! I enjoyed watching you on OLN's All Star BBQ Showdown!
