There is a used Smokette in my area for sale that I am going to look at this afternoon. All I know about it is that it is all stainless steel in like new condition, has a cover and is about ten years old. Is a ten year old Smokette similar to the product being produced today and is there anything I should look for when looking at it? Thanks for your help and suggestions. Mike

My Smokette is 7 yrs old. I think their still made the same way today with the same electrical innards ect. Im not sure but I assume they are compared to the new ones ive seen in Cabelas. Biggest concern I would have is does it work? I would take a thermometer with a probe and a wad of tin foil with me. I would after doing an internal inspecion. Then I would run probe thru top vent hole. Wrap probe with foil. Similar to inserting probe thru a potatoe withe the pointed end bare. Turn on unit and turn it up to high. 250 degrees and let unit run and check thermometer. Make sure your thermometer has been checked in 2 ways. Ice water, then boiling water to make sure its calibrated. I cannot give you any advice on price of used unit though. Too bad Cookshack isnt open today or you could maybe get an idea from them. Good luck and let us know how you made out. Not too much other to go wrong other than see if it was dropped ect. You get my idea hopefully.
