Just a word about "sticker shock". I consider myself a value oriented kind of person. I was kicking myself for spending so much on a smoker right up to the time I opened the box my 008 shipped in. The quality of this smoker so far surpassed any other smoker I had looked at that I found myself wondering why it was so inexpensive. In other words, I did a complete 180. Also, to really appreciate the value, you need to consider the cost of time, tending, burnt food, etc, in comparison to the CS which will produce near perfect product every time with little to no input from you.

Also, I saw the vented garage smoker mentioned above but can't find the link. It was vented using metal dryer vent hose placed over the vent hole and then run up and out of a garage window. I suspect for a more permanent option, you could vent it out through a wall/soffit using a regular dryer vent. A circular piece of metal, or better yet a magnet, is all that would be needed to hold the hose in place on top of the smoker.
I vented mine using a gas hot water heater vent ( that funnel looking thing on top) 8 feet of vent ducting pipe and a muffin fan at the exit to give it a little suction. The funnel piece above the smoke vent hole has a 1/2 stand off so the fan sucks mostly clean air plus any smoke that comes out the hole. It's important not to restrict the oven vent or create suction in the oven.

Todd, small correction in your advice, from your friendly, even present moderator Big Grin

Do not "attach" any vent to the top of the smoker or the warranty will be voided. The hole needs to be unobstructed to allow convection to draw out the smoke.

Those who have done it, usually leave a little gap of a couple of inches and the smoke still vents out just fine.
