I ran across MainlyDaves web page at http://www.lamaine.com/bbq/ and I think it is outstanding. He has about 30 postings of his Smokette cooking adventures. His web page is like a well written and illustrated cookbook. He has pictures and descriptions of every step he takes using his 008. He ends every smoke with a lessons learned and his family's cooking review.

Does anyone else know of any other web pages dedicated to CS smokes? He is either incredibly dedicated to good Que, or the Winters are way to long in Maine.

Aw, shucks, thanks for the kind words Papa.

To give credit where credit is due, I kind of "borrowed" parts of Chris Allingham's format from the Virtual Weber Bullet site. (www.virtualweberbullet.com) and added my own stories. The Cookshack certainly seems like less hassle than the Weber Bullet.

You're right, sometimes winters are long. But I did the site mainly to keep a record of my smokes so I could repeat any successes and/or avoid any failures. I also used to be a Web Developer so I wanted to keep a few skills in that area.

I've been negligent lately, mainly because I've been sticking with the standards (pork butt, chicken, etc.) through the winter. They'll be more postings soon.

Now that I don't have more snowblowing and shoveling duties (I pray), I'm also expanding the site to include commentary on my "toolbox" of accessories - like thermometers, gloves, foil, cleaners, etc.

I haven't found any other Cookshack specific sites, but many other product specific ones like weber bullet, green egg, etc. And, if you master the search capabilities of this site, you can find an answer (or, sometimes several opposite opinions) to about any question you have.

Thanks again.
Dave - Your site is a great reference tool. I have sent many of my smoking buddies to view it. Even some of those diehard log-burining fellas are impressed. Seeing the ambient conditions and knowing you are in Maine are making some of them think about making a purchase. "Set it and forget it" on a cold winter's night sounds good to them.

Keep up the good work!!! Big Grin
