What is the switch in the hopper for? | Cookshack

We have been cooking on a FE100 made in Feb.2008. We just bought a 2nd FE100 made in March. There is a switch located in the hopper on the newer unit that is not on the older one. When the lid is shut the switch is depressed. What is this for? Does it turn off the auger when open?

I've got Big Red #2 on the way, with a reverse door, so I'll ask about it.

Called Customer Support. It is a saftey device they started adding in March. When open the auger will not turn, once the lid is closed the switch is depressed and the auger will turn. Somehow somewhere I am sure somebody must have gotten a finger or a beard caight in the auger. I was hoping it was the secret "FAB" injector button. I guess I will have to wait for that option.

I'd hate to see you suffer with an old FEC, Tom. Why don't you send me yours and buy a new one with the safety switch?

It's just now out, and you're already making mods, LOL.
