Product Details indicate Hickory so that's my guess. You will probably want to start out using only 1 to 2 ounces of wood. Easy to over smoke with these.
Having a scale with which to weigh your wood is useful...it's easy to overdo the smoke.
You'll want to initially season your smoker with 4 oz of wood for a few hours. Follow that up with a pork butt, which is foolproof and will further season the metal.
Good luck...you're going to love your new toy. Feel free to ask away with any questions you may have.
My chunks weighed in at around 4 ounces each. I split some of them in half, and and then some of the halves again, giving me the option of using approximate weights of 1, 2, 3, 4 or more ounces. I use an OXO digital scale to weigh the wood. Under smoked meat is far better tasting than over-smoked.
