Here's a silly question...the wood box on my Amerique has an offset on one end, and is flat on the other. Should the offset side go towards the back of the smoker, or the door side...or does it matter? It fits both ways. Thanks!
I would think it would only fit one way. Might want to consult your manual or call Cookshack. Might try looking for a mual online at Cookshack America.

I think you are correct, at least thats how i put mine in, thats the way it was from the factory, so i just keep it the smae way, seems to work fine, not sure it really matters to be honest, as long as the box isn't resting on the element...
got some ribs in as we speak, can't go outside, makes me hungry!!

VERY good question !! I have been putting it in where it touches the back of the smoker, S.O.P. with ALL other smokers, which would be the "flat end". If putting it in this way would it affect the way the wood burn's, not enough air flow ?? Just wondering because there is a post about the wood not charring or burning as it would in a 55 and not much smoke.
My box opens from the right and it took a little trial and error to figure out that the front of the box must be lifted a little for a proper fit against the back wall.
Great...thanks! I was doing it wrong! So, does anyone think it would make a difference? There is someone on another thread that is having trouble getting his wood to burn (as has been mentioned)...could this have anything to do with that?
