From what I am reading the FEC is happiest with clean, stable power. Has anyone used this generator with the FEC and how does it compare to Marine batteries on an inverter.

Noisier. Don't mean to be a smart a** but the inverter and battery works fine for us. I realise the generator will be noisier and smellier but maybe you have another reason for it other than just running the FEC.

Living in Florida you should know. Four hurricanes convinced me I need better backup, The Yamaha and Honda are very quite (compared to other generators)..
Do a google search on that model. Found a couple of RV forums where they talk about the various models (until someone jumps in who might know).

Talk to prisonchef about the Hondas. He uses 2 of them in tandem and swears by them. The model he uses is incased for sound insulation, and Jack says he gets comppliments on how quiet they are.

I have used the 3000 at 3 comps. Run a 21 ft travel trailer and the FE off it. No problems so far. And it is MUCH more quiet then the other generators there.

I'll just be plugging into the wall, but I get regular brief light dimming when A/C, dishwasher, washer/dryer, etc. kick in.

I would suggest that you get a good single plug surge protecter from Radio shack or a office supply. This will help insure power spikes it sounds like your having.
Sounds what CT is getting is a "brown out" which is different than a surge.
This is not an electricians answer, just my practical experience. An electrician can problem help us out.
The drop in voltage is making everything dim. A surger protector will ONLY protect you from very specific spikes (like lightning strikes on the line).
To get rid of those brown outs, unfortunately you have to have filtered power. Working around a lot of computer equipment, we see this all the time. In computer rooms without filtered power, you loose a lot of power supplies because they don't like the constant up and down in power voltage/amperage.
Brownouts kill more equipment than spikes.

if you only need to run the fec ribdogs battery and inverter setup is for sure the way to go. it works well and the cost is cheap.
geyiserq is right i do run dual honda eu3000is generators for my rig but here is what they are running;
22 cu ft reefer
7.2 cu ft freezer
fec100
sm150
3 well steam table
5 foot commercial hood system
water pump
water heater
12,500 btu a/c
the honda's run with out fail rain or shine (or heat). the only protection i have given them is a tent for okeechobee and callahan contest but i have been caught and have run them in pouring down rain and they don't care.
power is "clean" which is really important with the sm150.
if you are thinking of the hondas camping world sells them. buy the presidents club card for 20 bucks and get a 10% discount on them.
the noise factor oddly enough as helped increase our sales at the farmers market. people ask about them i talk to them and then sell them some q.
