My 008 has puffed smoked almost every weekend for over 8 years but finally died last night - I threw in two 10lb butts and after about an hour I walk outside and realize I don't smell smoke - walked over and it was cold as could be. I think the temp dial is toast, I'll call CS on monday to order a replacement - is it recommended that I go ahead and replace the heating element at the same time?

Boy did I jump to the wrong conclusion! When I took it out of it's cubby hole I found that a rat had chewed through the cord. Off I went to Lowe's for a replacement cord and she's back to puffing smoke. I do use the heck out of it though so it still might not be a bad idea to have some replacement parts on hand. Of course there's always the thought of upgrading to bigger cooker.
