We've picked the date.

For details, check out the link here:

Now, I need confirmations. I need to get a REAL headcount, so please sign up with name and how many people will be coming. Adults, etc.

If you're tentative, please put that.

In order to put this one, I'd really like to have 25 to 30 people (BBQ'ers) in order to make the effort worth it.

Please sign up.

Confirmed list:
Russ
Stuart and CS (TBD)
Cal & Sonja
S&H and Holly
Cook One +1
Andy J
John, Deby +1 (ismoke)
Bill and Tobey (KS Q)
Don (a1sooner)

Russ,

Wife said we were having too much fun with the rub exchange bantering and that I should take the time off and go to OKC to meet some of the forum members. So count me in as one.

I'll have to figure out what I can bring/help with since I will be flying.

So when will you know for sure that the party will go off or not so as to purchase a ticket?

Do you realize how much it would cost to make Smokin's deck portable and truck it somewhere east to set up for a party? I bet it would take a whole fleet of 18-wheelers to make a move like that. Jer
Thanks for giving this a bump.

Just think how much more fun this will be getting to have all this fun in person not to mention all the great little tidbits of information one will pick up.

I would liken this to an eggfest "after party" where the those that cooked all day gather to show off some really great cooks and develop family like friendships that are hard to explain. I really do hope we get enough members to attend so this goes off.

Besides I look forward to sharing food from the pellet cookers.

Jer.
Well, I had this firmed up yesterday, and was minutes away from confirming attendance when everything blew up.

I scheduled a business trip to Houston on 5/10 with continuing flights to Oklahoma City on 5/11 and a return to Chicago on 5/13. When scheduling the 5/13 segment I found out it's Mothers Day, so I picked a much earlier departing morning flight than I would like (6:00 AM) knowing, with that sacrifice, I would be walking in the door at home around 9:00 AM. That's about the same time my wife normally gets up on Sunday. Perfect, or so I thought.

When I informed my wife of my perfect plan she simply responded "That's a huge problem" I asked "How can that be a problem?". She then informed me that 5/11 is our daughters last day of final exams and that we need to be on campus that afternoon to empty her dorm room, store certain items for the summer, and prepare the remainder to bring back home on 5/12. As a last ditch effort I boldly (stupidly) suggested that she could easily handle those chores without me, and all I got in response was "The Look".

You all know the final outcome so all I want to say is that if everything goes as planned, have a great time. I'll be thinking of you.

Let's see you post 13,000 plus times and remember every holiday.

Funny no one mentioned it previously, I think we were so focused on the fun we forgot the most important person.

What to do... what to do...

Well........I have always told her she is not my mother. But yes Smokin she is the most important person!!!! Memorial day weekend would give us a 4 day weekend??? BUT we ceratinly want Stuart there!
BUMP.

So, I'm not seeing enough participation. I want to have it, but for all the effort it's going to take me personally, I need at least double the # we have.

I need everyone who wants to come to help drive this to people's attention. I'm hoping some people have missed the announcement or the lurkers are just scared (don't be, where else could you eat BBQ like we're gonna have for that weekend)?

If we don't get enough, I "MAY" move this to the fall.

Drop dead decision date is 3/15. That's two months before and would help anyone needing to make a plane reservation.

So, do we have this in MAY?

Need you to sign up.
