2nd Cookshack Reunion -- DELAYED

Maybe repost with new heading?? Come on everyone lets get others excited about doing this or we may just show up anyway Smokin.

The fun and excitement we had with the sauce exchange will be nothing compared to "The Deck Party" Maybe we could even have an official sauce contest so we can say "Award Winning Sauce".

It will be a shame if this don't make it.

We're a week out from my self-imposed Deadline (I want two months so people flying in can get good tickets) but I'm probably 90% sure I'll delay (not cancel) this until (liikely) Septermber.

I hate to disappoint the people that WANT to come, but I really need more people to come to make it worth the time and expense (for me and for Cookshack).

We'll make it happen. If we change the date, we'll pick a good weekend (first two weekends I'm cooking at Oktoberfest, but you guys wouldn't have much BBQ, it would be german food and beer only) so later in Sept probably. Aug is too hot.

Have to say I agree Smokin...May is such a busy month with graduations, Mothers Day and Memorial Day. Sept would be a good time after it cools off some and things tend to slow down by the 3rd and 4th weekend. It will also give you and this forum time to generate more interest and participation. I for one think you are on the right path.

Works for me anytime you set the date. I guess my life just ain't all that busy. I kind of like it like that.

Well, and it's not THE reason, but I've been real busy this past few months and the next two well probably be the same.

It just all sounds like a lot of fun and my deck will be in great shape in September (actually the yard will have recovered from last year when it was covered in wood all spring/summer)

And I don't want to steel any thunder from the CS 50th Anniversary, so we need people to be excited about that, not my deck party LOL

I understand completely. And undertaken like this will be tons of work no matter how much help you get. When I put out an ya'll come it will take Holly and I a week to get things ready. All the way down to cuttin the grass.

Smokin whenever you have it, my wife and I will arrive a day early to help with final preperation.

I like that, unless it's OU/Texas weekend, then Football wins (yes, really) I'll have to look at the schedules.

Wouldn't be as much fun as my deck, but the Royal can be fun.

Be it the Royale or Deck Party, October might be possible for me. How are the winds that time of year?

They moved OU/TX this year so Royal weekend is OU at Texas Tech....

Im good with Sept/Oct weekend. Just have to know so I dont let work travel get in the way.

Well, looks like we're days from the deadline and still have the same number. Guess I need to put in my 2¢. The Mother's Day weekend is ok with me. I can get up early Sunday to get back to Dallas for brunch for wife, mother-in-law, & daughter-in-law. But September or October, now you're getting into a semi-sacred area. I have big tailgate responsibilities, people counting on me for food, cooking, and bartending. Or maybe it's just because I have all the gear. Anyway, there are 2 open dates in Sept that will work. I wouldn't be much good even for away games; not much of a conversationalist when the game's on. Still looking forward to it whenever.

I'll float this to the top as we are within Smokin's self-imposed deadline for holding or moving the date. I'm good either way, but want to know if I should be looking for a ticket now or not. Jer

given the small #' of participants, looks like we'll delay it. I may take one of the suggestions and talk to CS about doing it at the Royal. They'd have to do a little more work, maybe a larger spot.

So we'll keep the discussion going. I'll work on a new post later.

Dang, I understand but Dang. I think I need a CB but really wanted to tasted something cooked on one by someone who is about to hope his new restaurant. Guess I'll just have to wait until the Franchise opportunities roll out.
