On Monday I fixed turkey tenders in my Smokette. I brined them for three hours and then used Penzey's Northwoods seasoning. They turned out fantastic. I gave one to our neighbors and now they want me to fix some for their Christmas soiree. We cut one into cubes last night and had them on a beaudacious salad with vinaigrette. It was fantastic. My wife's company had a potluck today so I sliced up several for her to take along. She just e-mailed me and indicated that not much had been eaten. Apparently sloppy joes that someone brought in were the hit. I am a little down in the dumps right now. When was the last time you ever heard of food prepared in the CS being trumped by hamburger in tomato soup?

Oh well, she is bringing the leftovers home and we will snack on them. Maybe that is just Minnesota. Any flavoring other than salt and pepper seems to be outrageous.

Well, I can tell you this. I know for a fact that I make GREAT pulled pork. But there are many times that I bring it to partys and sometimes it doesn't get eaten.

OTOH, sometimes I bring it and it goes SUPER fast....

So, IMO, it all is in the crowd that is there.

Cheer up. I'm sure they were very good!
being trumped by hamburger in tomato soup?

He he he he that's funny!!!

People can be funny at times. I'm sure your BBQ was great!!! Maybe they were just in the mood for Sloppy Joes??

I smoked a bone-in picnic last Saturday just for my family. We each had a sandwich and the rest just sat in the fridge. I think I had another sandwich the following day. Just wasn't in the mood I guess, ended up freezing the rest.

Same thing happened when I smoked up a nice tri-tip roast, to 135 degrees, then after letting it sit, I sliced it up nice and deli thin for sandwiches, ended up freezing most of it. I thought it tasted very good!!!! Hmmm? Maybe I'll take out that freezer bag this weekend??

hang in there, maybe it's just a season thing??

DrB, how you B?

Turkey was probably a bad choice (during the Holiday's everyone eat it). Do that in the summer and see what they think.

It's happened to me to. We have a party and a person says they don't like my BBQ.

Well, as I'm walking them to the door, I'm mentally checking them off my invite list for the next party.

Don't worry, they didn't know good food and they wanted what they wanted. You can't control that.
Good evening, Smokin,

I am doing fine, and you? I am already over the rejection of my turkey tenders and on to smoking other things. I guess you just have to please yourself and of course the wife. We did some ribs last night and were able to complete them successfully without boiling or any liquid smoke. I am going to attempt something new this week, salmon. I will be doing a search for help here and am looking forward to the challenge. That is part of the fun.

Speaking of smoking, how about those Sooners?
