If your fire goes out because you opened the hopper and forgot to close it again... (no that didn't happen last weekend at MWC Confused )You can put a wet paper towel on the temp probe and get the FEC to sense less than 130 degrees and the ingitor will fire up again.

I used a little gel to get things running, but Stuart filled me in on this little trick... Uh I mean "If this had happened to me...."

Seems like there was a ruling that this was not the case... If i remember right the rule was the ignitor raised the temp in the cooker less than 1-2 degrees or something so they ruled it was OK to use the ignitor... I may be spewing wrongness, but I know I read that somewhere. I'll scour the KCBS site for something on that.

I see Rule 6... But it seems there was something else I read regarding ignitors...
For those reading, rule number 6, that Nordy was talking about.....
6) Fires shall be of wood, wood pellets or charcoal. Gas
and electric heat sources shall not be permitted for cooking
or holding. Propane or electric is permitted as fire starters,
provided that the competition meat is not in/on the cooking
device. Electrical accessories such as spits, augers, forced draft
are permitted. No open pits or holes are permitted, except at
the election of the contest organizer. Fires shall not be built
on the ground
