Last summer's foodie road trip through Kansas City and Missouri was excellent. My wife, grandson and I loved the sights to see and the places to eat.

Planning a new trip, early October, currently flying in to Boston and roadtripping into Maine and who knows where else. Any of you from those parts got any suggestions for good eats- not necessarily BBQ- expecting some great lobster at least.

Anything helps when you don't know your way around.

Lobstah is cheap in Maine this year, ayuh!

We like Shaw's Fish & Lobster Wharf next door to New Harbor Lobster Co-op in the village of New Harbor in the town of Bristol, ME. http://www.yelp.com/biz/shaws-...urant-inc-new-harbor

Choose you lobster from the tank on the ground floor, then go upstairs to the dining room. You can eat your lobster out on the back deck while watching the lobster boats unloading at the co-op next door. Wicked decent!

For BBQ go to Four Points BBQ in Winterport: http://fourpointsbbq.com/index.html

Both of these places are out of the way, but are excellent, IMHO as a resident of Maine for 61 years.
Que'n one of the best meals I've had in ages was at Fore Street in Portland. The menu is all local ingredients and most of it cooked over wood (grill, rotisserie and oven). Book ahead, they're always busy.

The BEST Lobster Roll on the planet is at Red's Eats in Wiscasset...about an hour north of Portland. You'll stand in line 30 minutes waiting but it's worth it Smiler

If you're near Boothbay Harbor, try The Lobster Dock for lunch or dinner. They were in a Crabcake Throwdown with Bobby Flay and won. The lobster is brought in, freshly caught, daily.

Have fun!

Any thoughts on how far into Maine you are going to go? My wife and I go all along the coast every summer ending in a week in Eastport... the furthest point out. We tend to stick to small lobster stores along the way since the big restaurants tend to <to be polite> rip you off..

Planning on staying along the coast, hoping to get to Bar Harbor, depends on time. Thanks for the input.
