Now that the KCBS is sanctioning LP competitions that prohibit pure wood burners from entering such contests, I was wondering if Stuart or Donna have given any thought to manufacturing a cooker that would meet the criteria for these competitions but still deliver true wood smoked flavor. I know it seems like taking a step backwards but if someone in KCBS wants to enter such a competition they are going to have buy their cookers somewhere. No better place than here! Smiler

I wouldn't get very excited over that one event. It will be real intresting to here the talk after it's over about the cheating that will go on. There no written rules for how much charcoal or wood that you can burn in your LP pit. The only rules they have about the cooking is the pit MFG rules and they are vague. I've seen several LP pit users cheat in the normal contest and they have a very hard time running with the all wood cooked product. Unles that industry is willing to spend Millions of dollars at putting these LP events on around the country , this is just a flash in the pan and several good teams are getting ready to get fried.
I have read the rules for the L P GAS bbq contest in Kansas City. I think the boys thre have gone a little over board with the rules, THEY HAVE IT RIGGED ! Their rules say, all cookers MUST have, 1 electronic ignition--most grills come that way
2 thermostat control--I can't find a grill that comes that way
and three >automatic shut off in case the flame goes out. I have sent over 100 e-mails asking who makes a lp gas grill like that and have not received even ONE answer. They have a PRE approved list but when you go to their page, even their listings DO NOT say anything about auto shut off OR a thermostat control.
I have an EVENT GRILL made by COLEMAN that my brother and I added a rotisserie to but they say it can't be used because we modifyed it. TRUE we did add the rotisserie but that IN NO WAY effects the way the lp gas works

Has anyone else had this problem? You may e-mail me direct at leewalt@powerbank.net
