I found this salt free lemonade chili rub in a book...I haven't tried it yet.

 cup sugar
3 Tablespoon Chili Powder (pure chili powder, not a blend)
1 Tablespoon lemonade powder
1 Tablespoon dried parsley
1 Tablespoon garlic powder
1 Tablespoon onion powder
2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried marjoram
1 teaspoon dried sage
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon mustard powder
1 teaspoon dried dill
Thank you, Hair Bear. I'll try it next weekend and let you know how it works. We like to smoke Turkey breasts, and this sounds like it would be great for that. I also LOVE to smoke flank steak whole, using a chipotle pepper salt rub. this makes the best "jerky" we've ever had. you smoke it whole, then slice it thin. (This jerky has to be refrigerated) Do you think I could use my rub recipe leaving out the salt, seeing as I refrigerate the jerky after smoking? What is the purpose of the salt in a rub? Or do you think "No Salt"(or lite salt)would work?
Thank you for moving my post, Smokin Okie. I got such a speedy reply! My sisters live in Oklahoma City and I've visited your lovely City and had such a good time (especially in Brick Town, with the Dueling Piano Bar!) Do you remember the tornado a couple of Springs ago on May 8th? That's when I came to visit, and there was a tornado that day, and then the next day also. My sisters now call me the Seattle Twister Sister - they figure I brought it with me! Let's see if I can shake up the Barbeque and Smokin' world with a no salt approach! I'll post recipes as I try them.
