You have found the correct site. I did some research last year on the Ceramic cookers and Kamado seems to be the original and best made. They used to be headquartered in my home town, Sacramento, CA. but moved to San Diego last year. I did speak with their customer service just as the move was occurring. They have moved the factory to Mexico in order to keep the price of manufacturing reasonable. They say the quality is the same.

I think the issue with less well made ceramic cookers is durability and cracking/breaking of key parts like the firebox ring area etc. There is a knock off on Ebay called "Kamodo Kamado".

The Kamado's of course offer more customized tile options than the BGE but I have heard good things about the BGE as well. The Kamado's are not cheap but like Cookshack you get what you pay for.
FWIW - About 5 years ago, I had a strong craving for a BGE. Ordered one and when it arrived, I had the delivery men put it on my deck (in the shipping box). Unpacked it later that day and found a big crack in the body. Called BGE, repacked it, and the shippers picked it up. A week or so later, got the replacement. This time, I unpacked right off the truck while the delivery men were still there (they complained). Guess what - another cracked one. Back it went. Tried a third time with the same results and finally gave up. Had BGE credit my credit card.

Interestingly, the last BGE CSR that I spoke with told me that my experience was not all that uncommon.
